4. Why is the Messenger’s way important?

Say, (O Muḥammad), ‘If you should love Allah, then follow me, (so) Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.’” [3: 31]

A righteous woman loves her Creator by following His Messenger’s way. As Hasan al-Basri put it: “The sign of their love (for Allah) is in their adherence to the Sunnah of His Prophet )).

When we take a look at the lives of the Ṣaḥabah, we can really begin to perceive what it means to love Allah and His                     Messenger )). When a woman[1] from the Banu Deenar clan, who had lost her brother, father, and husband in the battle was informed of their deaths one by one – do you know what she said? “What happened to the Messenger of Allah?”

The people who broke the news to her answered: “He is well, O mother of so-and-so. All Praise to Allah, he is as you want him to be.” Even that couldn’t satisfy her. She persisted, “Point him out to me, so I can look at him.” Someone then pointed out the Prophet )) and she looked at him and said: “Every calamity is small compared to the calamity of your death!”[2]

Furthermore, following Allah’s Messenger )), will bring meaning to your life in this world as well as unimaginable delight in the hereafter – just as it did for the Ṣaḥabah. Allah, the Exalted says about the Day of Resurrection:

﴿ وَأَنْذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ الْآزِفَةِ إِذِ الْقُلُوبُ لَدَى الْحَنَاجِرِ كَاظِمِينَ ﴾

And warn them, (O Muḥammad), of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled (with distress).” [40:18]

At that fearful hour, the sun you see every day – will be brought close to the creation, until there’s just a mile between it and us. People will sweat according to what they have done; the sweat reaching to the ankles of some, to the knees of others, to the waist of others, while some will have their mouths covered with sweat.[3]

In such confusion, people will run from one Prophet to another, requesting them to intercede with Allah ‘Azza wa Jall to help them. Finally, we will be directed to reach Muḥammad )), who, with Allah’s permission will intercede, saying:

« يَا رَبِّ اُمَّتِيْ اُمَّتِيْ »

“O My Rabb, My Ummah! My Ummah!”[4]

Look dear sister, it is for you – his Ummah that he prays. This was your Prophet )), who went to battle with the Jews of Banu Qaynuqa, after one of them deliberately tore-up a Muslimah’s hijab at the market.[5] This was your Prophet )) who remembered you in his farewell sermon saying, Fear Allah with regards to your women.”[6]And it will be he who will Inshallah intercede for you on Youmul Qiyamah. No doubt Allah, the Most Merciful sent him as a raḥmah to the worlds.

So remember your Prophet )) by sending peace and blessings upon him, for “those who send Ṣalawat more often on him, are the ones who will be nearest to him on the Day of Resurrection.”[7]By doing so, you stand to receive his )) intercession on Youmul Qiyamah Inshallah, for he )) said: “The one who recites blessings upon me (i.e. says):

« اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ »

O Allah, we ask you for Peace and blessings upon     Prophet Muḥammad[8]

Ten times in the morning and evening will obtain my intercession on the Day of Resurrection.”[9]

So “hold on to the Sunnah, like a lion grips its prey,” as Shaykh Sa‘ud As-Shuraim says, and look forward to a successful bargain, for Allah’s Messenger )) said, “Every one of my Ummah will enter Jannah except those who refuse.” He was asked: “Who will refuse?” He )) said:

« مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ ، وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَقَدْ أبَى »

“Whoever obeys me, enters Jannah, and whosoever

.disobeys me, refuses to (enter Jannah).”[10]

“The mountains will not save you from the tides,                           but the ark of Sunnah will get you to the shore.
