About Us

The renowned scholar, Moulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali An-Nadwi envisioned a learning experience that combined the best of Deen and Dunya – where children would be taught the essentials of Islam, while studying at a regular school.

This dream was realized when Iqra Arabic School was established in Mangalore, shortly before the Moulana passed away. The School which began with only six students, has Alhamdulillah today, blossomed into a full-fledged institute, with more than 600 students enrolled in various courses at different levels.

The school provides a conducive environment for students to learn and practice their Islam – as they strive for excellence in their regular school disciplines such as languages, Math and sciences. While the Ulama mentor students in the Qur’an and Sunnah, specialist teachers and educators focus on their formal education.

Today Iqra has blossomed into a full-fledged institution with about 60 students in full time Hifz section, more than 300 students in the part-time courses and over 200 students enrolled at the Annual Summer Camps. Many prominent Ulama and intellectuals from different parts of the country have visited and praised Iqra for its high standard.

Eventually Iqra aspires to guide everyone to the Straight Path by learning from our glorious past and preparing for the imminent future. And should Islam be understood in its right perspective, this goal is not far from being achieved Inshallah.

We deeply acknowledge the contribution of Mr. Haneef Haji and its founder Mr. Syed Mohamed Beary – whose vision, leadership & patronage have brought about the success and made Iqra what it is today.

May Allah help us and bless our efforts in providing education to our children.
